BF6 Players Concur: Missions Are Way Too Hard
The debut of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, especially for its premier multiplayer mode. On Steam alone, live player figures peaked at nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, many players are protesting against some of the game's toughest challenges, which are required to access certain guns.
Users have commenced using personalized games created through Battlefield Portal to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how grueling these challenges have become.
Grasping BF6 Tasks
Missions serve as Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. There are four types of assignments, but where most merely grant skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the only way of getting 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.
A number of these locked weapons may soon find their way on rankings for the best guns in Battlefield 6.
Player Outcry on Reddit
Over on Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how hard and tedious some of these challenges are. One user highlighted one of the most egregious examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a comment that illustrates just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
The suppression mechanic in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it lacks nearly as many benefits in combat as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is extremely unreliable and functions solely at very short distances, which isn't typically where you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Overly Demanding Task
Another Reddit user highlighted an additional excessively hard challenge, this time in the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills from more than 200 meters away with long-range weapons
This is challenging enough on its own, but there's another important point to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at such a long range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, Mirak Valley, and perhaps Operation Firestorm at a push if you want to snipe from over 200m away.
The Alternative Method
There is a workaround though: the custom game tool. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to create personalized matches on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.
But when tackling the tasks in a normal session appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that harms both you and your squad, is it surprising for finishing these in a private match so teammates aren't hindered?
Future Adjustments
It should not be shocking if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, certain gamers simply are unlikely to obtain the gated weapons.
For now, the audience continues to voice their opinions on these demanding in-game tasks, hoping for a fairer player experience in subsequent patches.
