Diving into a Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop in a Mission to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have discovered a variety of interesting indie games. But, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this classic-feel platformer includes a hero that is truly a dung trying to navigate to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
How you interact is easy to grasp: you only need a jump control. In 150 challenges, battle boss fights and unlock a store to purchase skins for your dung hero.
Time your movements with caution, since one mistake forces starting over. Bounce using floating orbs to hurl the poop to new heights, navigate crumbling surfaces, and interact with triggers to reveal secret routes. Earn coins to purchase tougher stages as gameplay ramps up.
Graphically, the demo features vibrant level designs and a killer soundtrack. The retro art with shifting abstract forms could recall gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.
Although tough to think of previous releases where you play as a piece of feces, gaming have long included toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, players make explosives from protagonist waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize feces as plant food. And of course, such content appears extensively in the role-playing game The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its silly idea, Unko Technica has already earned impressive awards, such as winning at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the complete version planned to launch on PC on November 19.
