Chile's Historic Accomplishment

Chile earned their back-to-back spot at the tournament with a sensational playoff victory over Samoa recently, leaving only one remaining spot to be claimed for the host nation in two years. At the same time, the Paraguayan side stunned Brazil by twenty points in the first leg of their playoff.

The Welsh team, on the other hand, are teetering in 12th, with the Japanese side behind, and the implications of falling to thirteenth and into pot three are potentially significant.

An additional new dimension for the next World Cup is the presence of five nations from the American continent: the Argentine team, Uruguay, USA, the Canadian team, and Chile – with either Paraguay or Brazil possibly making it six. From the governing body's viewpoint, American interest is beneficial, particularly with the 2031 World Cup scheduled to be hosted by the USA, and the host selection for the 2035 edition was launched recently.
